WATCH: The video of Whitney Houston covering Steve Winwood’s “HIGHER LOVE”

It's 80s-a-riffic.

Just before the pandemic began, a NEW version of Steve Winwood’s Throwback hit “HIGHER LOVE” emerged.  But, unlike most of today’s remakes, it was a remake from an artist who had passed away; the late Whitney Houston.  So, just how did this come together?

Turns out, Whitney’s vocals on the song were 29 years old, recorded in 1990 and included as a bonus track on her Japanese album version of “I’m Your Baby Tonight.”  Several years back, well known musician/mixer KYGO caught wind of the mix, and worked out a new version of Whitney, which was released and hit #1 on the dance charts in 2019.

Not only is the version dripping in dance/80s nostalgia, but SO is the video.  Straight down to the spandex, short shorts, and ’80s moves, if you need a taste of a throwback today, this is worth four minutes of your time.  It may have you thinking this whole remake was just a dream.

(OR WAS IT.)

Enjoy!
