This Song Still Gets Around 20 Years Later
Twenty years ago today, the No. 1 song in the country was “Promiscuous” by Nelly Furtado ft. Timbaland.
The song was Furtado’s first No. 1 in the U.S. and it stayed there for six weeks.
Revisiting that song and music video made us wonder what Furtado’s up to these days… turns out, she had stepped away from music for a bit but it seems she’s back!
Late last year, she announced she would step back from performing live. In a note to fans, Furtado wrote: “All this aside, I have decided to step away from performance for the foreseeable future and pursue some other creative and personal endeavors that I feel would better suit this next phase of my life… I have enjoyed my career immensely, and I still love writing music, as I have always seen it as a hobby I was lucky enough to make into a career.”
Fast forward to this summer, when Furtado shared a snippet of a new song with Canadian electronic due DVBBS.
She’s also made some public appearances in recent months as well – so here’s hoping Furtado sticks around for awhile!
